About The Author

Vasubandhu (4th–5th century C.E.) was a monumental Indian Buddhist philosopher and monk from Gandhara, influential in both Abhidharma and Mahayana traditions. Initially a Sarvastivadin scholar, he famously authored the Abhidharmakosabhasya before converting to Yogacara Buddhism—advocating "mind-only" (vijnaptimatra) idealism—under the influence of his brother, Asanga.
