The Story of Our Season

The Official Manchester United Players' Diary 2009–10

Part of MUFC

About The Book

When United set out in August 2009 to secure a record fourth successive league title and to avenge their Champions League final defeat, they did so without their star player, Cristiano Ronaldo, sold to Real Madrid for a world record transfer fee.

It was an opportunity for the rest of the squad to step up, and for the new signings -- Antonio Valencia and Michael Owen -- to show how they could bring something new to the team. By the beginning of March, United were poised to go through to the Champions League quarter-final, handily placed just behind early pacesetters Chelsea in the Premier League and won the Carling Cup (the first knockout trophy United had ever retained).

In this fascinating insider account of the season, we hear from all the key players who reveal what were the most important turning points of the campaign, what goes on behind the scenes at Carrington to help build such a strong team spirit. It is almost as good as being in the changing room yourself!
