Waiting at Woy Woy

Illustrated by Emily Snape
Published by POW! Kids Books

About The Book

In the Australian seaside town of Woy Woy, the locals seem stuck waiting for something to happen in their lives. A man waits for the lake to be stocked with fish, a child waits for his grandmother to join at the bus stop, and a romantic waits for a glimpse of her love.

All this waiting keeps life sleepy and dull in Woy Woy. The one aspect of Woy Woy that brings the community joy is a small, piano-playing mouse named Mordy. It seems as if life will drone on, when a sudden storm floods the town and poor Mordy is washed away. Everyone waits for someone else to do something. It’s only the courage of a local dog, Tyrone, who snaps out of waiting and leaps into action. Tyrone teaches a valuable lesson to everyone about letting life pass you by.

Told in playful rhymes and illustrated in soft, inviting watercolors, Waiting at Woy Woy will encourage little ones and their parents to seize the day.
