Sonam Paljor Dejongpa was born in Sikkim, India, and studied Tibetan Buddhism under the tutelage of Dodrupchen Rinpoché. He served as a translator for Dodrupchen Rinpoché and his designee, Lama Jigme Dorje, while also contributing to the growth of the Mahasiddha Nyingmapa Center. Sonam and his wife, Maria, and son, Pintso, were founders of Taktse International School in Sikkim, and he is still actively involved in its operations.
