Sheldon G. Adelson

Sheldon Gary Adelson was a businessman, investor, and philanthropist who rose from humble origins to become one of the wealthiest men in the world. Born in 1933 in a poor Jewish neighborhood in Boston, he went on to build a series of successful businesses and ultimately pioneered a concept that integrated business conventions, luxury accommodations, shopping, entertainment, and gambling. A farseeing visionary, his global business empire transformed Las Vegas and changed the skylines of Macau and Singapore. He was no less legendary as a philanthropist, especially in his support for Israel. He died in 2021.
