Roger Noble

About The Author

Major General Roger Noble is one of the most operationally experienced Australian military officers of his generation. As a 26-year-old captain, he helped destroy chemical weapons inside Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Two decades later, he served as Deputy Commanding General of the Coalition Land Force during the liberation of Mosul from ISIS in 2016.
Across six operational deployments, he held senior leadership roles in peacekeeping and combat missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and East Timor. His career spans the full spectrum of modern Coalition warfare, from frontline command to multinational campaign leadership.
With more than twenty-five years of engagement in the Middle East, and senior military and diplomatic appointments across the Indo-Pacific, Europe and North America, Noble has worked at the intersection of operations, strategy and international policy. As Australia’s Counter Terrorism Ambassador, he played a central role in the global effort to counter violent extremism.
