Philippe Audoin

Philippe Audoin (1924–1985) was a French writer, essayist, and member of the Surrealist group. A discreet but central figure of postwar Surrealism, he met André Breton in 1959. Audoin’s book, which featured an extensive overview of the Hôtel Lallemant in Bourges, particularly its alchemically decorated study, left a lasting impression on Breton. Audoin contributed to La Brèche and L’Archibras, and his published works include a major study of André Breton (1970).
