Peter Schrag, who served for 19 years as editorial page editor of the Sacramento Bee, has long followed California affairs. A former executive editor of Saturday Review, he is the author of articles and reviews in the Atlantic, Harper’s, the Nation, the New Republic, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, Playboy, the American Prospect and other publications.
