About The Author

Charles Blahous is the J. Fish and Lillian F. Smith Chair at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He previously served as Deputy Director of the White House National Economic Council under President George W. Bush, and as a public trustee for Social Security and Medicare, to which he was nominated by President Barack Obama. Blahous holds an A.B. from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California/Berkeley.
