Illustrator Carla Cartagena was born in Chile, during the dictatorship. The family went into exile and emigrated to France when Carla was two and a half years old. She attended an applied arts school specializing in textile design in Lyon, France, then worked as a graphic designer for twelve years before circling back to her first love - illustration.
