Annemarie van der Heijden

Annemarie van der Heijden (1972) is a Dutch author and illustrator. She still lives in Wijchen, the town where she was born and raised. In 1996, she graduated with a degree in biochemistry from HAN University of Applied Sciences in Nijmegen, and she has been working as a research technician at Radboud University ever since.

Annemarie has loved drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. When her son Sem was a toddler, she set out to make a long-held dream come true: creating her own picture books. While writing and painting, she finds joy in looking at the world through the eyes of a child. Music is her other great passion: she plays the flute in several orchestras and ensembles.
