About The Book
Have you ever wondered what plants, insects, or some foods look like up close? Now you can see them with Your World Through a Microscope! This kit includes everything kids need to build their own working microscope with 30x magnification, plus 8 clear slides and a 64-page guidebook packed with fascinating facts about the scientific world. The included guidebook features bright illustrations and fun and accessible information about how microscopes work, the history of microscopes, how to prepare samples, and so much more. The guidebook also prompts kids to gather materials to study under their microscope to reinforce each topic. Curious kids will get an up-close view of plant parts, insects, dust, soil, and so much with this hands-on STEM kit.
About The Illustrators
Dawn Cooper is an illustrator based in a leafy suburb of Bristol. She is represented by The Artworks illustration agency, and works from both her home and a friendly shared studio in central Bristol. Her work includes nonfiction books for children, book covers, maps, and packaging, all heavily inspired by the natural world and its many creatures, as well as traditional botanical drawings and works of fiction.
Dawn graduated from Bath School of Art & Design with a first class degree in graphic communication, and has rarely been apart from her pens and paper since. She currently creates her work digitally, hand-drawing directly onto a tablet to make multi-layered illustrations with lots of color and found textures.
In the rare moments when she’s not drawing, Dawn likes nothing more than a long, rewarding walk with her camera or browsing a book shop or two.
Adam Linley studied design and illustration at Newcastle and has also trained as a teacher. Before becoming a freelance illustrator, he spent many years as a graphic designer in the greetings industry, working on everything from signage and packaging to cuddly toys and cards. Since then, his illustrations for books have been published all over the world.
