About the Book

Information overload. Political polarization. Relentless technological disruption. We often think of these as defining challenges of the twenty-first century. Alvin and Heidi Toffler recognized the forces reshaping society long before they became obvious.

More than fifty years ago, Alvin and Heidi Toffler argued that our greatest challenge would not be any single invention, but the accelerating pace of change itself. Their groundbreaking work, Future Shock, became an international phenomenon, influencing presidents, CEOs, military leaders, and policymakers around the world. Their greatest contribution was not predicting the future, but changing how we recognize, understand, and navigate change.

The Pulse of Tomorrow is the remarkable story behind the people and the ideas that transformed the world's understanding of change. Personally recruited by Alvin Toffler, Deborah Westphal draws on more than twenty years working alongside Alvin and Heidi Toffler, more than twenty-five years applying their ideas with governments, military leaders, national security organizations, and Fortune 100 companies, and extensive archival materials to offer an intimate portrait of the Tofflers, revealing how a lifelong partnership of curiosity, observation, and intellectual courage produced ideas that continue to shape how leaders, organizations, and societies respond to change.

Blending biography, intellectual history, and contemporary insight, The Pulse of Tomorrow traces the origins of ideas that reshaped how leaders think about technology, globalization, innovation, and societal change. Along the way, readers discover the story behind one of the twentieth century's most influential intellectual partnerships—and why, in an age of artificial intelligence, geopolitical realignment, and accelerating technological and social change, their way of thinking continues to help leaders, organizations, and societies navigate an increasingly uncertain world.

As CEO of Toffler Associates, she advised governments, military leaders, and Fortune 100 organizations, translating the Tofflers' ideas into practical strategies for navigating uncertainty, disruption, and change.
