About the Book

A remarkable and lasting friendship between two extraordinary world leaders.

The Lion and the General brings to life the pivotal bond between Prime Minister Winston Churchill and General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Beginning in 1942 during the Second World War, their alliance proved even more influential than Roosevelt’s relationship with the British leader. Drawing on untapped diaries, letters, and contemporary sources, this captivating narrative explores the private and public lives of two formidable leaders who helped bring Hitler to his knees.

Years later, they teamed up once again to temper communism during the Cold War and lay the groundwork for NATO. More than friends, Churchill and Eisenhower looked after each other like brothers—building a foundation that continues to support the modern world order today.
