About the Book

What AI Can Actually Do for Healthcare: What Leaders Need to Know Now

The American healthcare system spends more per person than any country on earth and delivers worse outcomes than most of its peers. Costs are rising, providers are burning out, and millions of patients cannot access the care they need. The tools to change this already exist. The question is whether leaders will use them wisely.

In Prescribing Healthcare’s Future, Jesse Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, a Johns Hopkins professor, former AMA president, practicing anesthesiologist, Global Chief Medical Officer at Aidoc, and digital health expert, delivers a clear-eyed guide to AI in healthcare for the executives and decision-makers who will shape its future.

Readers will learn:
  • Why the current healthcare system is structurally unsustainable and what must change
  • What AI can genuinely do today—and where it still falls short
  • How to evaluate AI investments without chasing hype or falling behind competitors
  • Why equity must be built into AI design from the start, not retrofitted later
  • What leaders across industries need to understand about healthcare’s digital transformation

Grounded in clinical experience and rigorous research, Prescribing Healthcare’s Future is the briefing C-suite executives can’t afford to miss.
