This is an important, timely, and beautifully written book, which evokes the colours and scents of autumn and the harvest in a glorious cornucopia of poetic prose. The emphasis in Carpo’s story, and in this book, upon the “sacredness of completion, the beauty of fruition, and the necessity of letting go” feels like an incredibly important message in this time when humanity needs to realize that perpetual economic growth is not a sustainable path. I love the way that the book relates the symbolic pattern of Carpo’s mythology to actionable insights for the journey of life, and makes it clear which insights are personal gnosis that is based on the mythology. The book explores who Carpo is, how she fits into Greek mythology about the divine cycles of Nature, and how important her role was in a society that relied completely on an abundant harvest.
