About the Book

A practical, candid guide for ambitious professional women exhausted by the pressure to have it all—offering the clarity and tools to reclaim your time and energy and become the leader, partner, and parent you want to be.

When you’re pulled in a million directions, life can become an increasingly advanced game of Tetris. But when was the last time you stopped to ask what you actually want to make room for?

Teresa Sweeney has built a career as a senior executive at some of the world’s leading investment firms while raising two children. Along the way, she learned that a life you love takes more than ambition and a well-managed calendar. It takes clarity about who you want to become—and the habits, standards, and boundaries to put that vision into practice.

In On Your Terms, Sweeney shares an approach that spans work, wellbeing, partnership, and parenting. At its heart is a powerful shift: define your own version of success by how you live and who you’re becoming, and focus your attention on the choices you can actually control.

With candid stories, humor, and practical tools, you’ll learn to:
  • Define your own version of success—and start putting it into practice.
  • Decide what deserves your best, where good enough is enough, and how to hold your ground when others disagree.
  • Make room for what matters by defending your boundaries, simplifying recurring decisions, and handing off what no longer needs you.
  • Build sustainable habits around sleep, food, and movement that give you more energy, patience, and focus.
  • Operate as a team with your partner, with clear ownership, honest conversations, and time to actually enjoy each other.
  • Parent with clear values and consistent boundaries, handle hard moments, and build a family life you love.

There’s no one “all.” You get to define yours.
