About The Book

Perfect for fans of Brad Taylor and Jack Carr, Obsidian by Sam Stone is a high-octane military thriller where war is fought in the shadows and the most dangerous enemies wear the uniform of the country they’ve already betrayed.

The men who sent him to die wear American flag pins.

Major Zane Bishop spent a career running missions that never had names. Delta Force—the kind of work commanders reach for when failure is not an option. Then a safehouse job in Northern Iraq went wrong in a way only inside knowledge could arrange—timing, routes, blind spots—and his team didn’t make it out.

For a year, Bishop stays dead on the Portuguese coast. Until a CIA officer walks into his bar and offers him a way back.

No flag. No oversight. No record of existence. A deniable, privately funded unit built to strike threats too politically radioactive for anyone in uniform to touch.

Bishop takes the offer—not for redemption, but for leverage.

The man who signed his death warrant is now a U.S. Senator—and he’s hunting the unit that pulled Bishop out of the grave.

About The Author

Sam Stone writes high-stakes military, espionage, and transnational law enforcement thrillers grounded in real-world operational experience. A seventh-generation Texan, he served more than three decades with one of Texas’ largest law enforcement agencies, including an FBI Gang Task Force and intelligence assignments, before finishing his career commanding a Special Operations Division that oversaw SWAT and other tactical programs.

He lives in the Texas Hill Country with his wife and two dogs. When he is not writing, he is usually traveling, floating a Central Texas river, or spending fall Saturdays at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
