JUDGES Volume Three

The genesis of the world of Judge Dredd

Book #3 of JUDGES

The third volume of the hit series exploring the history of 2000 AD’s all-powerful “Judges.”

“This is the Justice Department as The Wire, and it really works.” -- Starburst Magazine

United States of America, 2051 A.D.

It has been twenty years since Eustace Fargo’s justice bill was passed. There are new weapons on the streets and vast city blocks rising to the sky, as the first human being sets out to visit another star system. New York, California and Texas cry out for autonomy, chafing against a federal government they feel has lost control.

Reeling from news of Chief Justice Fargo’s death in service, the nation asks: has it all been worth it?

Michael Carroll is the author of over forty books, including the award-winning New Heroes series of Young Adult superhero novels and the #1 Amazon best-selling cult graphic novel Judge Dredd: Every Empire Falls. He currently writes Proteus Vex and Judge Dredd for 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine. Other works include Jennifer Blood for Dynamite Entertainment, Razorjack for Titan Books (co-written with artist John Higgins), and the Rico Dredd trilogy for Abaddon Books, for whom he has also created the acclaimed JUDGES series which explores the genesis of the world of Judge Dredd

CE Murphy began writing around age six, when she submitted three poems to a school publication. The teacher producing the magazine selected (inevitably) the one she thought was by far the worst, but also told her–a six year old kid–to keep writing, which she has. She has also held the usual grab-bag of jobs usually seen in an authorial biography, including public library volunteer (at ages 9 and 10; it’s clear she was doomed to a career involving books), archival assistant, cannery worker, and web designer. Writing books is better. She was born and raised in Alaska, and now lives with her family in her ancestral homeland of Ireland.

Back when she was a child, Zina Hutton once jumped out of a window to escape dance class in the Virgin Islands. Now she’s a speculative fiction writer who tends to leap headfirst into new stories and worlds the second that inspiration strikes. Zina lives in hot and humid South Florida where she’s never far away from a notebook and her precious Kindles. Zina currently works as a marketing minion, but she’s also a writer with non-fiction publication credits in Fireside Fiction, Anathema Magazine, The Mary Sue, Strange Horizons, ComicsAlliance and Women Write About Comics as well as several short stories in different publications

“This is the Justice Department as The Wire, and it really works.”

– Starburst Magazine

“I enjoyed this book, although it made me nervous. I loved the conflict it caused in me. It’s fast-paced and uncompromising, keeping true to the essence of the Judges.”

– The British Fantasy Society

“Challenging at times, yet extremely rewarding in the end.”

– Pop Culture Bandit

“Each story is quickly devoured, packed with twists and brutal political analogy. This is the rise of fascism, eerily familiar and terrifyingly plausible"

– Starburst Magazine
