About The Book

A Heartwarming Picture Book About the Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship

“Well, we tried our best, but perhaps we should give this friendship a rest.”

Elephant and Mouse’s friendship starts off strong. Elephant helps Mouse reach his stuck kite, and in turn, Mouse give Elephant a hand finding his coin . . . and they form an instant bond. Yay! New friendships can be so much fun! But what happens when you’re so different from each other? What happens when Mouse and Elephant sit on a seesaw? Or when Mouse tries to push Elephant on the swing? These two new friends realize that being so different can make friendship difficult. But just when they are about to give their friendship “a rest,” something amazing happens that changes everything!

This beautiful rhyming picture book from bestselling illustrator Katy Hudson allays children’s fears about feeling different when making new friends—showing how common interests can bridge any discouragement, distance, or difference!

About The Author

About The Illustrator

KATY HUDSON started her Illustration career as a small child drawing on freshly emulsioned walls around the house! Her parents quickly dissuaded this medium and encouraged drawing with pencil and paper instead. Her debut author/illustrated picture book "Bear and Duck" was published by Harper Collins in June 2015, to a starred review from Kirkus Review. Her subsequent books Too Many Carrots and A Loud Winter’s Nap and The Golden Acorn, went on to top the bestsellers list in the U.S.

“It’s very easy to fall in love with a book purely from its cover illustration alone. We do this a lot, and sometimes it works out well - sometimes it works out terribly well!” —Publisher’s Weekly for Too Many Carrots by Katy Hudson
