His career reached new heights in the mid-1990s when he became the communications manager for AMA Pro Racing, a role he held until the late 2000s. During this time, Lawrence played a pivotal role in elevating the profile of motorcycle racing through strategic press outreach, earning him the prestigious MVP Award from the AMA for his contributions to the sport.

For 15 years, Lawrence wrote a popular column for Cycle News, where he explored the rich history of motorcycle racing, uncovering the stories of legendary riders, iconic motorcycles, and unforgettable races.
