About the Book

A precocious student misunderstands his teacher’s advice to “make” a friend on the first day of school in this charmingly silly picture book about a very ambitious arts and crafts project.

It was finally the first day of kindergarten, and Figdor was ready to experience the wonders of a rigorous academic curriculum.

But when his teacher first tasks the class with making friends, Figdor is thrown for a loop. While he was prepared to make anything, he doesn’t see why this craft project should stand in the way of real learning. But if he must make a friend before getting to color theory and subtracting bushels of apples, then so be it.

Equipped with markers, popsicle sticks, and glue, Figdor sets out to answer the time-old question: what makes a good friend?
