About the Book

A poetry collection tracing migration, memory, language, displacement, and the ways people carry home with them across borders.

Fermented Memories is a collection of poems about what survives the crossing. Moving between the places we leave and where we arrive, between the languages we inherit and those we acquire, the poems follow the migrant past the border and the paperwork into enduring questions of home, identity, belonging, memory, displacement, and renewal. Priscilla Okoye writes in English braided with Igbo, in a voice that is communal, unhurried, and unsparing.
