Newly updated and expanded, this inspirational memoir by Nike executive Howard “H” White reveals the ultimate secrets for achieving professional and personal success and how to help others succeed. “Nike has given me great shoes and great money but the best gift they ever gave me was the mentoring of Howard White” (Charles Barkley, NBA on TNT host).
As Howard “H” White tells us, “Extraordinary people are simply ordinary people on fire with desire.” Sometimes we just need a hand to help unlock the gifts inside us. Believe to Achieve is that helping hand, inspiring you to reach for your most cherished dream and giving you the tools to get there.
This updated and expanded edition of Believe to Achieve is filled with behind-the-scenes moments featuring famous athletes and insightful anecdotes—an exuberant collection of profound wisdom that turns White’s hard-earned lessons into a roadmap for your own personal success. Covering such topics as positive thinking, attitude, heart, responsibility, leadership, happiness, forgiveness, truth, confidence, integrity, honor, success, balance, fear, honesty, the power of thought and mind, the inner and outer worlds, body, soul, money, friends, self, humility, sacrifice, love, and respect, Believe to Achieve is a voice of encouragement that will help you recognize your potential and pursue the path to success.
A star in high school and a standout point guard for the University of Maryland, Howard “H” White was an NBA draft pick until knee injuries put a stop to his basketball career. Undaunted, Howard put his other skills to use, eventually finding his way to Nike, Inc. Now vice president of Jordan Brand, he has been with the company for thirty-five years. With Nike’s support, he founded the “Believe to Achieve” program, an innovative traveling seminar designed to encourage youth to believe in themselves and adults to mentor them. A tremendous, charismatic public speaker, White's passion and excitement for life moves adults and children alike. He lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon, with his wife.
