About the Book

Astrogamma is a visual experiment in science fiction by the Italian artist and designer of Golem, Lorenzo Ceccotti, better known as LRNZ. The story is set in a world grappling with a bizarre biological and metaphysical crisis. It follows three main characters whose lives intersect during an apocalyptic event triggered by the appearance of “Astrogamma,” a mysterious, godlike entity or energy. As giant insectoid creatures and strange phenomena begin to consume the city, the narrative shifts between a gritty, street-level survival horror and a grand, philosophical exploration of evolution and the end of humanity. It is a hallmark of LRNZ’s signature style that blends manga influences, heavy industrial design, and fluid, cinematic action.

About the Author

Lorenzo Ceccotti, professionally known as LRNZ, is a prominent Italian artist, designer, and animator based in Rome. Born in 1978, he is a highly versatile creator whose work spans comics, graphic design, motion graphics, and film concept art. He first gained major attention as a co-founder of the influential SUPERAMICI collective, alongside other notable Italian creators like Ratigher and Tuono Pettinato. LRNZ is celebrated for his “total design” approach, often handling every aspect of his books—from the narrative and art to the typography and technical layout. His notable works include Golem, a celebrated political sci-fi graphic novel set in a hyper-capitalist future Italy, praised for its lush, manga-influenced dynamism; Monolith, a psychological thriller about a woman trapped in an indestructible vault-like car (a project that was developed simultaneously as a graphic novel and a live-action film, for which LRNZ served as the visual supervisor); and Geist Maschine, his current major project, a sci-fi trilogy featuring postapocalyptic themes and intricate mechanical designs. In addition to his original books, he has illustrated covers for international authors like Haruki Murakami and Jeff VanderMeer. Astrogamma is one of his earliest graphic novel creations.
