Joseph Monninger

Joseph Monninger has published several award-winning YA novels and three books of nonfiction, including the memoir Home Waters, and has been awarded two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships. He lives and teaches in New Hampshire, where he also runs a dog sled team.

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. What you lose in the whirlygig, you get back in the ding dong.

Q. What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?

A. Light-heartedness, sense of humor, and an appetite for adventure or the novel.

Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?

A. I'd love to be a dog for a day...or part of a wolf pack.

Q. What’s your greatest fear?

A. I don't know that I have a "greatest" fear, but I've always had the idea that one day a shark would get me. Not sure why. Crazy, probably.

Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?

A. Marshmallow Fluff.
