Douglas Kennedy is the author of eleven previous novels, including the international bestsellers The Moment and Five Days. His work has been translated into twenty-two languages, and in 2007 he received the French decoration of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?

A. I am rather happy being me... finally!

Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

A. I 'd love to play jazz piano.

Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

A. Where I am right now - in my house in Maine. I also live in Paris and London and Berlin - but Maine is home. I spent thirty years living outside of the United States, But then I came back - and Maine was the place I decided to hang my hat. It was the right call.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. Our President, Barack Obama - an intellectual, a statesman, a street-wise politician, and so amazingly Zen, given that he has the hardest job in the world.
