I told my youngest son I'd be talking with Brownies today.  He said, "You mean the kind you eat?"  I said, "No, the girl scout kind."  I had fun showing the group of Brownies my old Brownie and Girl Scout uniform.  We had a good time with shark trivia and they asked great questions about Danger in the Deep Blue Sea, which they'd all read.  Then I read to them from my manuscript of The Lost Princess and some even advance ordered the book that comes out next month.  They each got a crown!

I'm having a great time writing the Mermaid Tales series.  I loved being an elementary school teacher and librarian, so it's such fun writing about third grade merkids.  I just finished an upcoming book about the horrors of spelling tests.  They were difficult for me and for one of my sons, so I know they can be hard for other kids as well.  I hope this book, the sixth one in the series, will make those tests a little bit less scary.
