A. I went to Beacon High School and then spent a year and a half at SUNY Cortland. I decided to transfer after making a last minute decision to become a Special Education Teacher. The rest of my under grad was spent at SUNY GENESEO and I got my masters degree in Special Education at the University of Arizona.

Q. Name of your favorite composer or music artist?

A. Right now it's Adele. <3

A. White Christmas!!!

Q. Favorite television show

A. I've been a huge fan of The Closer, but it's almost over. Of course I'm a Gleek, but I'm going to anticipate being hooked on SMASH.

Q. How would you describe your life in only 8 words?

A. Books, family, writing, chocolate, hope, dance, laundry, running

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Find your voice, spread your wings and fly free...

Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?

A. Living completely in the moment I'm in--no regrets.

Q. What’s your greatest fear?

A. That something terrible will happen to my children. I don't think there is anything that could scare me as much.

Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

A. I know it's not exciting, but I'd have to say home. I love to go away, see new things, discover new places, but only as long as I can always come home.

Q. With whom in history do you most identify?

A. Anne Frank--I read her diary when I was a teen and there is something about her spirit that has always haunted me. Maybe I've hoped to have a great impact on the world with my words and the strength to be the very best me in the life I've been given. And courage--I've wanted to have her courage.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. I admire the quiet givers, the small town folks who change and save the lives of their friends and neighbors without anyone really knowing what they do and how much it means. They have good hearts and I admire them more than anyone.

Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?

A. I'm convinced that it must be the word "I"--I really need to learn to be a better listener.

Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

A. I would play the piano and be fluent in sign language. I obviously have over achieving fingers.

Q. What is your greatest achievement?

A. Raising three boys who struggle with Dyslexia and Reading/Writing Challenges who are book freaks just like me.

Q. What’s your greatest flaw?

A. I'm selfish. *shudders*

Q. What’s your best quality?

A. I'm a glass half-full optimist who is constantly working on making herself a better person.

Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?

A. I would be a Red-Tailed Hawk--I would fly.

Q. What trait is most noticeable about you?

A. I talk a lot!

Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?

A. Jonah from Lois Lowry's THE GIVER--When I read that book in high school I realized that there was someone else out there that had questions like me. I'll always love Jonah and Lois for giving me that.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional villain?

A. It's a bogus answer because he's really good at heart, but I'm going to pick Snape from the Harry Potter series. But I think it suits me because I am that glass half-full kind of a girl and I can't help but believe that every villain has a little bit of Snape in them.

Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?

A. I'd love to meet Helen Keller. I'd just want to sit and listen to everything she had to say--soak it all up like a sponge.

Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. People who don't know how to drive--come on--I am a New Yorker. I just want to lay on that horn.

Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. I'm a dance instructor for three year olds--it doesn't really get much better than that.

Q. What’s your fantasy profession?

A. Singer--but that is never going to happen. *clears throat*

Q. What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?

A. Persistance, forgiveness and humor.

Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?

A. Just one? I'm so fickle! I can't pick a favorite, but what food can't I imagine living without? Chocolate ice cream.

Q. What are your 5 favorite songs?

A. This is as bad as the food question! Gahhh! My dad used to sing You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby by Bing Crosby to me all the time. I can name a few artists that have voices and songs that move and haunt me...Karen Carpenter, Carole King and Adele. And I LOVE Broadway music--ask my college roommate.
