Grimm's Fairy Tales: Winking Owl (Foiled Journal)

Part of a series of exciting and luxurious Flame Tree Notebooks. Combining high-quality production with magnificent fine art, the covers are printed on foil in five colours, embossed, then foil stamped. And they're powerfully practical: a pocket at the back for receipts and scraps, two bookmarks and a solid magnetic side flap. These are perfect for personal use and make a dazzling gift. This example features Grimm: Winking Owl.

This image was used to illustrate the tale of the ‘Willow-Wren’ in Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Vol. 5 (1920). It depicts the owl standing guard over the wren after he dared call himself ‘King of the Birds’. Carl Fahringer was an Austrian artist who studied at both the Vienna Academy and the Munich Academy, and travelled widely throughout Europe and the Far East.
