Q. What is your motto or maxim?
A. Never trust a sword to a man who can't dance
Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?
A. Which world?
Q. What is your greatest achievement?
A. Keeping my head, sometimes, when all around were losing theirs and blaming it on me (thank you Rudyard.) That, and a little thing called Motherhood.
Q. What’s your greatest fear?
A. Loneliness. Aloneness.
Q. With whom in history do you most identify?
A. Elizabeth 1st of England. What a life. What a woman! Mind you, Edward IV, her grandfather, comes a close 2nd.
June 21, 2012June 21st, Tasmania. A day of sharp, settled cold but I'm warm sitting here - cosy, writing, looking out across fields and hills to water and, in the distance, snow on the mountains.
And in America, in four days time, in the dazzle of your June, my new book The Island House comes out. Life feels schizophrenic, right now!
So this is our longest night, and your longest day. August 13, 2010That's the thing about the web; you're out there, and I'm here inside this post. If you read it, you (maybe) will hear me talking to you. Words run from the ends of my fingers just like they come out of my mouth - sort of... but it's like telepathy. There'll be no sound but what you give them.
And, at last, at last I've logged into reaching out again. A few years ago I used to blog quite a lot. Then I got all blogged-out. Now I'm back and that's because, of course, "The Dressmaker" will be published soon. I'm eager to re-connect. To say hello. To find out if the story works.
