A former Politico reporter, her writing has also appeared in the Miami Herald, Chicago Tribune, Newsday, and The Washington Post. Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. "Don't sweat the small stuff!" I'm also a fan of: "Do crazy things with your hair while you still have hair to do it with."

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. The women I really admire are the ones who are working two jobs, supporting their families, raising their kids and remembering to brush their hair on top of it.

Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. Explorer! I've traveled to almost 50 countries and meeting new people and seeing new things feeds my soul.

Q. What’s your fantasy profession?

A. Olympic sprinter
