Q. What’s your fantasy profession?

A. Conducting the Berlin Philharmonic or playing a piano jazz gig at the Village Vanguard - two things that are not going to happen within my lifetime.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. Our President, Barack Obama - an intellectual, a statesman, a street-wise politician, and so amazingly Zen, given that he has the hardest job in the world.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?

A. Nick Carraway in F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby' - the eternal, discerning observer.

Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?

A. "Quotidian" and a French expression: 'On verra'... which means "We'll see". Which kind of sums up my world-view.
