Raves and Reviews

"It never sacrifices heart for succinct storytelling...Spyri’s novel of a young girl who is sent to live with her grandfather in the mountains is retold here with accompanying lush watercolors and wide, sweeping panoramas. Dusíková taps into the emotional core of this tale, making it accessible to all but the youngest readers."

– Kirkus Reviews

"The text is a crisp, well-flowing synopsis of the tale, hitting all the key plot points with the result a picture book that's a hair longer than what's typical in the genre. And the soft illustrations capture in an exquisitely lovely way everything from Heidi's straw bed to the goats on a high cliff to the Frankfurt skyline, in a manner that will be appreciated by elementary-aged readers..."
