Robin Romm

Robin Romm is the author of the critically acclaimed short story collection, The Mother Garden, which was a finalist for the 2008 PEN USA Fiction Award. Born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, she currently lives in Berkeley, California, and New Mexico, where she is assistant professor of creative writing and literature at the College of Santa Fe.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?

A. I don't have one.

Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?

A. Dim sum, a noisy walk downtown, then the beach with my dog to hunt for sand dollars.

A. This changes so often, but since I was able to talk, I've loved Johnny Cash.

Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?

A. Apparently I use sparkly and secret a lot. I have to go back and take these out.
