Revealing Questions

Q. How would you describe your life in only 8 words?

A. Woman in tech. Facilitator of love. First-time author.

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. "I don't mind living in a man's world as long as I can be a woman in it." - Marilyn Monroe

Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

A. To me, location is less important than proximity. As long as I'm never too far from my husband's arms, I'm happy.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. My mom and that's why I dedicated my book to her. She gave birth to me at 18 years old, which to me, is an enormously brave thing. Every day of my life, she teaches me that love is worth fighting for.

Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?

A. Tech acronyms; think IRL (in real life) and FBO (Facebook Official). I'm also obsessed with adding "ish" to words for effect. Cute-ish, funny-ish, fancy-ish ...

Q. What do you regret most?

A. I'm not one for regrets. Every not-so-awesome experience in life I've had in life has led me to something more swoon-worthy. (Although OK, that fluorescent pink NKOTB hat I was obsessed with in middle school might be a regret.)

Q. What is your greatest achievement?

A. Turning $50 and a Twitter account into a business opportunity that has helped hundreds of people find love. I owe the inspiration entirely to a friend who turned on my lightbulb -- that vivid moment in my life when I realized that I helped him meet his GF (and so many other couples too). Starting eFlirt Expert was a huge risk and a lot of people thought I was insane. But I just couldn't ignore my passion. And it's led me to so many incredible opportunities I could have never imagined before, like writing Love @ First Click!

Q. What’s your best quality?

A. One of my Twitter followers who I met offline told me that I'm the same in person as I am online -- in personality and photos. That was honestly the biggest compliment.

Q. What trait is most noticeable about you?

A. I'm super bubbly. There's hardly a moment in the day when I'm not flashing my pearly whites -- energy and smiles abound in my world!

Q. What’s your fantasy profession?

A. I'm living it every day! Helping people find love at first click is what I was made for.

Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?

A. Lobster rolls; I'm a seafood addict.

Q. What are your 5 favorite songs?

A. That's a tough call because I actually studied vocal performance at Berklee College of Music. But to get the inside scoop on my tastes, you can listen to the Spotify playlists that inspired my writing process.

On Books and Writing

Q. Who are your favorite authors?

A. My taste in books ranges from chick lit to self-help and inspirational to biographies. I love addictive, fun writing like Sophie Kinsella (especially her early titles), Candace Bushnell, and Lauren Weisberger. But I also appreciate the journey that authors like Gillian Flynn, Elin Hilderbrand, and Jodi Picoult take their readers on. And my business brain craves inspiration from people like Tony Hsieh, Richard Branson, and Mark J. Penn. Connect with me on GoodReads:

A. The Namesake (Jhumpa Lahiri)The Liar, The Bitch, and The Wardrobe (Allie Kingsley)The Tipping Point (Malcolm Gladwell)Life of Pi (Yann Martel)Running With Scissors (Augusten Burroughs)

Q. Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers?

A. Don't. Stop. Typing. If you have writer's block, just keep your fingers flying across the keyboard and it will work itself out. (Though DO stop to stretch -- I got carpal tunnel while working on this book!)
