Hannah Tunnicliffe

Born in New Zealand, Hannah Tunnicliffe is a self-confessed nomad. She has lived in Canada, Australia, England, Macau, and, while traveling Europe, a camper van named Fred. She currently lives in New Zealand with her husband and two daughters and coauthors the blog “Fork and Fiction,” which explores her twin loves—books and food. Season of Salt and Honey is her second novel.

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Grasp the nettle.

Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. Eating. Thinking about eating. Going to food markets.

Q. What are your 5 favorite songs?

A. Anything from "Rumours" by Fleetwood Mac, An Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong duet, "Never Let Me Go" by Evermore (my wedding song), "I Got Life" by Nina Simone and the "When I'm Gone" cover by Fiona Apple.

Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?

A. In speech: "Like..." (shudder, I know) In my writing: too many to keep track. I am working on diversification!

Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?

A. I'd love to meet my mother's grandmother. She's not exactly an historical character but she was so important to my Mom. According to all accounts she was strong, kind and baked a mean batch of biscuits. I'd love to meet her, share a cup of tea and just chat.
