Behind the Book: The Anatomy of Dreams
My Life in 8 Words
Q. What is your motto or maxim?
A. Don't stop believing.
Q. Which living person do you most admire?
A. My grandmother. She wanted to move to Paris to be a writer, but instead fell in love with my grandfather, a student at Yale Divinity School. Though she became a minister's wife, Grandma refused to lose her eccentricity, her open-minded curiosity, or her love of difference. She doesn't agree with the concept of the Eucharist, keeps a massive painting of a nude woman tussling with a snake in the living room, and embraced my mom completely when Mom began to date another woman.
Q. What’s your greatest flaw?
A. I'm a worrier--the downside of having a big imagination!
Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?
A. People who don't ask questions. Even a little curiosity about the lives of others can go a long way.
Q. What’s your greatest fear?
A. Loss of those I love.
