Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Do your best.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional villain?

A. de Bois-Gilbert, the Templar Knight in Ivanhoe; I found his love and desire for Rebecca and his inner struggles, his desire to save her, all to be much more compelling than the bland and noble hero.

Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?

A. There are a number of historical people I admire, but I don't really have a burning desire to meet and talk to a certain one of them. The historical person I would most like to talk to would be an ordinary, everyday person from the 1800's, just to hear first-hand what their life was really like.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. I never thought I would say this, but I admire Elizabeth Taylor. She's weathered a lot of unhappiness and seems to have maintained her balance and she's done a great deal of good with her work on behalf of AIDS patients.

Q. What do you regret most?

A. I really regret that my mother died right after my daughter was born, and they never had a chance to know each other.
