My Life in 8 Words

Author Revealed

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. A paraphrase of something I once heard: As you go the way of life, you will see a great chasm. Jump. It is not as wide as you think.

Q. What is your greatest achievement?

A. Hmmm.

Q. What are your 5 favorite songs?

A. So many, but sticking with 5 (in no particular order), Van Morrison's "Listen to the Lion," Springsteen's "Something in the Night," Ray Davis's "Waterloo Sunset," and every new gem of a rock or pop song that comes along and captures one thing well, like Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" or Colbie Caillat's "Brighter than the Sun"

Q. Who is your favorite fictional villain?

A. With the same limitation, Cardinal Richelieu from Dumas's books.

Q. What’s your greatest fear?

A. I don't have one, but I did. Long ago, I took a leap, packed up everything, and went to live in Tokyo. The decision was a huge risk and came with many unknowns, all of which I eventually overcame. Do something like that, and "your greatest fear" will evaporate.
